Nagarahole in Coorg

Nagarahole National Park is a wildlife reserve situated in Coorg measuring about 644 sq kms. Nagarahole is a home for wildlife. Animals like the antelope, panther, warblers, hornbills, deer, pangolin, gaur, giant flying squirrel are a common sight here. It's the best place to watch these wild animals and birds in their natural granduer.

Nagarahole National Park now renamed as Rajiv Ghandi National park. Nagarahole was once the hunting grounds for the Rajas of Coorg and Mysore.

Trekking in Kotebetta - Coorg

Kotebetta which measures 5400 ft is the third highest peak in Coorg. kotebetta is about 22 from Kms Madikeri and is located in Madapur which is in between Somwarpet & Madikeri. Kotebetta ranks third after Tadiyandamol and Brahmagiri peaks in Coorg. Kotebetta is a perfect place for trekking in Coorg.

The best season for trekking is from October to March. A guide will definitely be of help during trekking. No permission is required to trek Kotebetta, any one can go trekking with proper trekking equipments and gadgets. The most important thing to carry is a torch, wear proper shoes, insect repellants, and a fist aid kid without fail. Better watch out for leeches or u'l be sucked :-) .. Happy trekking

Mallalli Falls in Coorg

Mallalli Falls is situated in Coorg and is around 25 kms from Somwarpet and 260 kms from Bangalore. The exact location of Mallali falls is in Bettadahalli Gram Panchayat in Somwarpet of Coorg. It's is an eye feasting sight of river Kumaradhara gushing through the valley and falling into a gorge, with lush green mountains around.

Golden Temple in Coorg

Bylkuppe in Kushalnagar, where the tibetian temple Namdroling monastery is located is the second largest settlement outside Tibet. The 40 foot high gold polished idols of Buddha statue is a marvellous sculpture indeed. The golden temple houses over 250 monks. The Tibetian handicraft shops selling shawls, artifacts, costumes are the best places for shopping in Coorg.

Raja Seat in Madikeri the Capital Of Coorg

Raja Seat is a wonderful park or so called garden located in the centre of Madikeri Town in Coorg and is just minutes journey from any where around Madikeri. It's said that the kings of Kodagu or Coorg spent their evenings here. One can view the spectacular sunsets from this place as it is on the top of the hill. The blue mountains and snake like roads douwn the hill is a marvellous view from here.

Dubare Elephant Camp in Coorg

Dubare forest is located between Siddapur and Kushalnagar. Dubare elephant camp is a project undertaken by forest department and jungle lodges and resorts. This camp has plenty of trained elephants. The elephants for Mysore Dussehra were trained here. One can watch the tamed elephants bath and scrubbed by their mahouts in the banks of river Kaveri.

Irresistible Irpu Falls

Irpu falls in Coorg is located about 45 kms from Virajpet. Irpu falls is around 60 meters which decents thru the hills. Irpu takes its from the Lakshmanthirtha river. There is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the right bank of Lakshmanthirtha river. Irpu falls is an astonishing watefall in Coorg. One can go trekking during summer and feel the drift.

Abbey Falls is situated 8 Km from Madikeri, it is a popular tourist attraction in Coorg. The cardamom and coffee plantations around Abbey Falls adds to its scenic beau. Abbey Falls has been featured in many movies specially in Kannada Movies.

Nisargadhama

Nisargadhama at Kushalnagar in Coorg is 30 km from from the capital Madikeri. Nisargadhama is an "island" spread over 24 hectares through which river Kaveri flows. There is a hanging bridge to other side of the Cauvery. Bamboo plantations, elephant safari, boat ride, a small enclosure for spotted deer and sambhar, and cottages for tourists are the attractions.
