Bhagamandala-spiritual and traditional place of coorg

Our journey started with the bright sunny day with a romantic climate. We ahead to Bhagamandala from Virajpet, we travelled Bhagamandala via Moornadu in Coorg District. Bhagamandala is about 40kms from Madikeri,Coorg district’s main city. Bhagamandala is a sacred place in Coorg it also called as Bhagundeshwara Kshetra.

The river Kaveri, Kanika and Sujyothi is said to join from underground said kudala,sangama or triveni sangama in Kannada and Sanskrit. The temple is built in Kerala style and has smaller shrines dedicated to various gods. It is a tradition to have dip in the triveni sangama before forwarding to Talakaveri the birth place of river kaveri. At last our journey ended with gust of rain. It was a very traditional and religious experience to us.

Kakkabe in Coorg - A mix of history, granduer and scenic beauty

Me and four of my friends planned to spend our weekend somewhere in
Coorg, after a long discussion we decided to trek Thadiyandamol peak at Coorg. Tadiyandamol peak is the tallest peak in Coorg district and second tallest peak in Karnataka. Thadiyandamol peak is at Kakkabe and it’sabout 125kms from Mysore and about 38kms from Madikeri Coorg District's main city. Kakkabe a very small town at the bottom of Thadiyandamol peak at coorg district. Kakkabe is famous for its historical and spectacular view. One of the important place is Igguthappa temple also called Padi Igguthappa temple dedicated to Lord Subramanya or god of rain. This temple was built by Lingarajendra in the year 1810. The historical Nalknad Palace is also located in kakkabe. We also found ancestral homes which are also called as Iyne(Aine) Mane by the kodava’s it is said to be 250 years old architectural building.

We were astonished by the pleasant scenic beauty of the peak after a trek of about a 6kms nearly 1746 meters height above the sea level and we reached the top of Coorg’s tallest peak, even we were tired we needed to conquer the tallest peak of Coorg and view the pleasant view and scenic beauty . This peak is a heaven for those people seeking mountain climbing and trekking. At last we finished our quest to Thadiyandamol Peak which was indeed a mind blowing experience of a lifetime.

Talacaveri - The birth of the Holy River in Coorg

Talakaveri, is the place that is generally considered to be the birthplace of Kaveri river. It is also assumed as the holy river. There is also a temple built for the goddess Kaveri in Talakaveri.
Talakaveri situated in the Brahmagiri hills in Bhagamandala of Coorg district about 1,276 m.above sea level. It’s around 48 kms from Madikeri the Coorg's district’s main city. If you travel 40 kms from Madikeri you will reach Bhagamandala from there its around 8 kms to Talakaveri.
The Talakaveri is given great religious importance. The tank in which the river Kaveri takes birth is known as kundike meaning "holy tank". It is an ancient belief that taking bath in this tank cures the diseases and their sins.
All pillgrim's take a holy dip in the nearby pond during "theerthodbhava" and take home the sacred water or theertha for worship.
