Nagarahole Wildfire Raises alarm in Coorg

The wildfire at Nagarahole Forest reserve in Coorg has become a great challenge to the forest officials who are fighting to bring down the fire. Forest Officer Devaraj and his team are working day and night to bring the fire under control. Forest Minister C.P. Yogeshwar, inspected the affected areas and estimates that around of 510 hectares of forest has been destroyed in the fire.

All efforts are being made by the Forest officials and also the nearby villagers to control the wildfire but the current weather condition is making the situation more worse as the summer heat and hot wind increase spreading of fire. There was a similar wildfire in Coorg in 1992 which left a devastating effect on Coorg's forests.






Marijuana plants siezed in Madikeri

Madikeri police have seized marijuana that was grown inside an estate at Heravanadu near Madikeri. The police raided the estate belonging to Sabu and found 40 marijuana plants being grown.

The plants were confiscated and a case has breen registered against the culprit whoes is at large.

Bhagamandala-spiritual and traditional place of coorg

Our journey started with the bright sunny day with a romantic climate. We ahead to Bhagamandala from Virajpet, we travelled Bhagamandala via Moornadu in Coorg District. Bhagamandala is about 40kms from Madikeri,Coorg district’s main city. Bhagamandala is a sacred place in Coorg it also called as Bhagundeshwara Kshetra.

The river Kaveri, Kanika and Sujyothi is said to join from underground said kudala,sangama or triveni sangama in Kannada and Sanskrit. The temple is built in Kerala style and has smaller shrines dedicated to various gods. It is a tradition to have dip in the triveni sangama before forwarding to Talakaveri the birth place of river kaveri. At last our journey ended with gust of rain. It was a very traditional and religious experience to us.
